BLOG ENTRY #04

Sand Art

Miss Kseniya Simonova, a 24 years old sand artist woman drew a series of pictures on an illuminated sand table showing how ordinary people were affected by the German invasion during World War II.

On the first part of the video, she begins by creating a scene showing a couple sitting, holding hands on a bench under a clear starry sky.

But then warplanes appear and the happy scene is disturbed and the trouble comes out.
Then, a baby arrives and the woman smiles again.

Once again war returns and Miss Simonova throws the sands into the place from which a young woman’s face appears. The young woman quickly becomes an old widow, her face wrinkled and sad.
From the images of an old woman, it turns into a monument of an unknown soldier.

This outdoor scene becomes framed by a window as if the viewer is looking out on the monument from within a house.
In the final scene, a mother and child appear inside and a man standing outside with his hands pressed against the glass saying goodbye.
The text below which reads “you are always near” is the final image from Simonova’s performance on Ukrain’s Got Talent(UKG).

Miss Simonova’s performance brought the audiences and judges to tears with her presentation of the Great Patriotic War(as Ukrainians called the USSR fighting against the Nazis during World War II).

On my personal view, Miss Simonova presented this performance to reminisce and remember the dark times that they have experienced and also to remember the heroes that gives their life to save their country. By this, they learn to fight and find a solution in every problem that they will encounter, surpass it and continue to live life to the fullest.
